TMTD can be used as an accelerator for natural and synthetic rubbers on its own. Additionally, it is utilized as a secondary accelerator for EPDM. It also serves as a sulfur donor in sulfurcured elastomeric materials. Also, this compound dissolves in benzene and chloroform, which are polar solvents, and is insoluble in water and gasoline.
